Sarfaq Ittuk

A journey with Sarfaq Ittuk means experiencing Greenland in a most authentic manner. The passenger boat runs once a week from Qaqortoq in the South to Ilulissat in the North and back again. Much like the Hurtigruten in Norway Sarfaq Ittuk has for a long time been a vital, often the only means of transport in the area. Until today the boat is mainly used by Greenlanders visiting friends and family or doing business in the cities.

The boat is not a "traditional" cruise ship in many senses. It is rather small fitting a maximum of 274 passengers. Since it was build for transport and not for tourism it lacks the luxury facilities of big luxus liners like swimming pools, cinema, fancy restaurants. Still, it is a comfortable way of travelling. The boat has been modernised throughout the years and adapted to the growing interest of foreign tourist in discovering Greenland in this beautiful and in a sense very "logical" manner.

The ship has some big basic dormitory like rooms (preferred by the locals) but also several well equipped private cabins, some on the outer side with view on the ocean - that's where you will sleep. It has a very good cafeteria, open all day serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and beverages and a lounge area with panoramic windows.
